Can I use a flat/curling iron on synthetic hair extensions?

I am getting hair extensions soon for my prom, and I am going to style them myself using either a curling iron, flat iron, or waver - i dont know yet, but something that involves heat. If i get synthetic extensions (much cheaper haha..), will they melt or burn from the heat of some sort of iron? I am planning on wearing these extensions after prom too, so i dont want them to get ruined! is it worth the extra money to get real human hair extensions?

thanks =]

Human hair extensions are worth their price. They are beautiful, and you can do whatever you want with them. You can wash them, curl them, straight them, even dye them! And with the synthetic ones you can only use them once, and that is the way you buy them. Heat completely destroys them. Plus, once you put them on, and you sweat, they will get nasty and tangle. People can feel that they are fake and they even look fake. Human hair extensions cost quite a bit more but are worth it.Can I use a flat/curling iron on synthetic hair extensions?
Noo don't do that it will melt or burn...I think you can buy hair extensions already curled or straighted

Synthetic hair extensions?

can they be colored with hair dye? thanksSynthetic hair extensions?
real hair extension can but your best bet is to go buy the color you are looking for if you are white go to a black hair store we have a larger hair base belive me my mom use to teach at a hair school for whites and blackSynthetic hair extensions?
NO, synthetic hair extentions cannot be colored in fact, the color wont even take. They dont last very long (meaning the way they will look) they start looking very nappy. Go with real hair extentions ONLY!

For people who want to dye their synthetic hair extensions...?

Everyone says that you can not dye synthetic hair extensions

but the thing is you can!

all you need is the right stuff,

first off, this is for people who want to put leopard print or coon stripes in your extensions.

you need the type of temporary dye that you put on and go, you do not need to wash it off. most of these dyes come out in one wash so its perfect for extension.

you pour the dye into a bowl and apply to extensions.

tie a ribbon on top of a thin piece of cardboard then clip the extension to the ribbon

brush the extension and smooth out with hands

for coon stripes- take a Popsicle stick and dip it into the dye, then apply it in stripes.

for leopard print- with a Popsicle stick draw circles on the hair

make sure to hold the hair down with one hand while doing this

next un-clip the hair and carefully hang it from a wire hanger or anything else that it will hang from

please post comments on what you think of this, i was just tired of people saying this is not possible.

let it fully dry then comb through a lot of times

put them on and have fun :DFor people who want to dye their synthetic hair extensions...?
you cant dye synthetic hair extensions with real hair dye... but with the spray paint hair dye i don't see why not because it doesn't have the cemicals in it.

so if your going to dye your synthetic hair extentions with box coloring dont do it u could ruin it but yes with the temp dye like that u should be fine......

its good to clear that up

How do you put in revlon synthetic hair extensions?

i just bought the revlon synthetic hair extensions and i was trying to put them in and they arent working at all!! i keep following the directions but all they do is fall out and hurt... whats the best way to put them in...?How do you put in revlon synthetic hair extensions?
If you anchor them in when you clip them in they should stay in unless you have very fine thin hair.... Try putting them closer to the crown and not so low.... and put as much hair in the clip as possible....How do you put in revlon synthetic hair extensions?
are they glue in or clip in?
  • hair braiding
  • What all can you do with synthetic hair extensions?

I have some pink, 80% Modacrylic / 20% PVC clip-in hair extensions that I bought at Hot Topic. The packaging say I can curl, crimp, straighten, and blow dry them. I was wondering if it is safe to use hairspray on them as long as I wash them. And what other things can I do with them?

It also says not to dye them. But I have seen many people dye synthetic extensions to create coon tails or fade patterns. So, can I dye them or not? What all can you do with synthetic hair extensions?
synthetic hair is plastic so you can't do anything but mildly curl it..are you a female or male!

BTW: I DO LOVE ME SOME FRIED CHICKEN, but I'm definitely not a whore though? What did a black woman do to you to cause this hatred my friend?

How can I make my synthetic hair extensions look a bit more real.?

I bought synthetic hair extensions mistakenly.

Now I need to know how to make them look a bit damaged.

    So it matches my hair.

    I mean, my hair isn't plastic y'know?

So it's not gonna look like that.

    Any words of advice?

I was thinking of soaking them in the hot tub, yes I know that's a dumb idea, but I figured the chemicals would damaged them to a point. How can I make my synthetic hair extensions look a bit more real.?
while my first suggestion would be just to real human hair, but using a lot of products on your synthetic hair would hep some eg; mousse, hair sheen etc.How can I make my synthetic hair extensions look a bit more real.?
Hmm.. you can't really make it look real because it looks like shiny plastic lol.

I think it is best to buy real human hair or if you can return them if you can.

When synthetic hair gets damaged, it looks like **** so its best not to even try.

    Good luck though.
I say gett clip in jessica simpson extensions becuase it lets you blend ur real hair in them..other than tht ask to have your real hair on the top only synthetic on the bottom layers
yes chemical wld help and if u can curl them i wld curl them or straighten them with hair spray in it

Best way to care for synthetic hair extensions....how to keep it smooth and looking natural??

    Hey all...

So i bought a synthetic hair extension a while ago and have only worn it a few times....i would like to start wearing it again so wana know the best way to care for it - its got a really rough feel to it at the moment (maybe because i havent worn it for a while) and gets quite knotty .

So how do i care for it so it turns soft and natural looking again without it costing me alot???

THANKS GUYS!Best way to care for synthetic hair extensions....how to keep it smooth and looking natural??
Keeping synthetic hair up isn't costly at all. All u need is really good paddle brush and some type of oil. Nothing to heavy. Just brush it as often as possible and it keep it shiny. Try not to use hairspray because it will make the hair look piecey and cheap. I suggest something like a silicon based serum, just to keep it smooth and give it nice shine. The best the you can do is Brush the hair with a nice wide paddle brush to keep the knots out and maintain the smooth look.Best way to care for synthetic hair extensions....how to keep it smooth and looking natural??
Hi!! You can use a scarf at night when you go to bed to keep it looking fresh. They have hair refreshers or braid sprays which most of them do the same to keep natural and synthetic hair looking fresh. Go to a beauty hair store and check out what kind of a spray or sheen to maintain its beauty. Hope I've help!!
